Making HF handling contactless thanks to robotisation. A robust way to achieve heath and safety in routine quality control.
In routine quality control laboratories from mining and chemical production, to microelectronics, use of hazardoes chemicals sometimes is a necessity if a test procedure can not be replaced by alternative analytical methods. Nevertheless lab safety is a prerequisite in industry, for the benefit of both staff and environment.
Automation can offer solutions to safely manage hazardous chemicals in routine operation, as shown in a user case reducing exposure to hydrogen fluoride (HF) in copper concentrate analysis.
Using full automation and inside a robotic fume hood of the entire sequence of hot acid digestion ammonia precipitation and HF is addition to complex iron contamination at copper titration, we succeeded in reducing HF exposure to lab staff to an absolute minimum. As a result, the customer was able to achieve their HSE goals and provide a healthy lab environment for their staff.
Automation improves throughput, traceability and a safe work environment.
