A new NOAH pilot installation is now treating real wastewater on the Ghent University Campus Kortrijk.
For many years, Noah Water Solutions has worked closely with the LIWET research group, part of the Faculty of Bioscience Engineering UGent, together with Prof. Stijn Van Hulle and Prof. Diederik Rousseau, on a range of water treatment technologies.
This collaboration has now taken a new step with the commissioning of our latest electrochemical wastewater treatment pilot.
The system is connected to the septic tank of the KUBES building at Ghent University Campus Kortrijk and continuously treats real septic tank wastewater. Working under real operating conditions allows us to do something laboratory testing cannot fully replicate: long-term durability testing and performance validation in a dynamic environment.
The pilot is operated in collaboration with students from Ghent University and ISA Lille, creating a valuable link between research, engineering and hands-on operation.
Beyond performance testing, this installation also serves as a validation platform for new improvements before they are deployed across Noah's other field pilots.
What makes projects like this possible is the willingness of universities to open their campuses to experimentation. By providing space for real-world testing, Ghent University demonstrates that responsibility is not only about education and research, but also about enabling new technologies that can contribute to a cleaner and more sustainable environment for future generations.
A big thank you to the Ghent University LIWET team, Prof. Stijn Van Hulle, Prof. Diederik Rousseau, and all students involved for making this collaboration possible.
