Institutions keep discovering the same thing on digital assets: the trade is the easy part. The hard part is everything that has to sit around it.
We were glad to join Finance Magnates for a piece on that gap, with our CEO Adam Popat setting out how programs move once digital assets plug into the systems that already run the book.
“Ownership has to be equally clear,” he told Finance Magnates. “The business owns the commercial case, compliance owns the policy, operations owns the process, technology owns the environment, and security owns the control standard.”
A transaction only holds when it lands in the official record, follows a defined approval path, and stays consistent across front office, operations, compliance and technology. Eligibility rules, jurisdictional limits, transfer restrictions and holding periods have to sit in the platform. Once that operating model is in place, pilot-to-production becomes a simpler reality.
Thank you to Paul Golden for the reporting, and to Sabrina Wilson at GFO-X, Chris Cheverall at CMC Markets, Aklah S. at etoro, Mark Foulger at ROSTRO Group, and Simon Barnby at Archax for rounding out the picture on operating models, off-venue settlement and controls.
