ESMA has called 2026 the critical year for T+1 preparation, ahead of Europe's move to a one-day settlement cycle on 11 October 2027 and the first regulatory milestone this December.
Our new article focuses on the instruction inside that statement which is hardest to satisfy: firms must test not only their own readiness, but the readiness of their entire ecosystem across the trading and settlement chain. That is a dependency map, not a checklist.
