We are pleased to share a new joint publication from our network, recently published in the IEEE Communications Standards Magazine.
The article, "Combining Classical and Quantum Communications in 6G NTN architecture: Challenges and Opportunities," examines the integration of terrestrial and Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTNs) to support global, secure, and resilient connectivity in future 6G systems.
Key highlights from the paper:
Analysis of the joint provision of classical and quantum communications over Free Space Optical (FSO) links, with a focus on Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite constellations.
Discussion on integrating quantum communication services, such as Quantum Key Distribution (QKD), with classical feeder and inter-satellite links.
Examination of physical-layer challenges arising from the coexistence of classical and quantum optical channels, including atmospheric effects, crosstalk, filtering, and pointing constraints.
