The Handover #3 is out; the weekly Clinicians That Code briefing.
The line that stuck with me this week comes from the FDA. Its new discussion paper on generative AI medical devices proposes a competency assessment "inspired at a high level by how physicians are trained and evaluated": benchmark the clinical knowledge and the safety behaviour first, confirm with real patients and clinicians second. In plain terms, examine the model a bit like you examine a doctor. Clinicians are explicitly invited to comment; the docket is open until 19 October.
