Yesterday I spent some time at the robotics research department of VUB with Bram Vanderborght.
We had a fascinating conversation about the future of humanoid robots, where the technology is heading, and some of the challenges that still need to be solved before humanoids become truly useful in everyday life.
One topic that particularly caught my attention was their work on self-healing electronic materials, materials that can recover after being damaged. A technology with some very interesting implications for the next generation of robotics.
Bram also gave me a copy of his book Homo Roboticus, 30 vragen en antwoorden over mens, robot & artificiële intelligentie. Looking forward to diving into it!
And then there was the story behind the African robot artwork in the lab… 😂 I’ll leave the details with Bram, but that one definitely made the visit memorable.
