“My big dream? Making Mars habitable.” It sounds ambitious. But then again, Aerobel started with an ambition that didn’t sound particularly realistic either. Our CEO Sam Chartouni began experimenting with aerogel in a makeshift laboratory in his garage. No background as an engineer or chemist. Just an obsession with one question: Could one of the world’s best insulating materials be made sustainable, scalable and accessible for construction? Twelve months later, there was a breakthrough. Today, that idea has grown into Aerobel and a technology capable of turning waste into high-performance insulation that insulates twice as well while offering exceptional fire resistance.
