Topical Diclofenac for Prevention of Capecitabine-Induced Hand-Foot Syndrome: A Prospective Real-World Study
A prospective real-world study of 151 patients with colorectal or gastric cancer found that prophylactic 1% topical diclofenac💊 🧴 did not 🚫 prevent clinically significant capecitabine-induced hand-foot syndrome. Grade ≥2 HFS occurred in 16.9% with diclofenac versus 13.8% with active monitoring, with no difference in time to onset or HFS-related dose reductions. Female sex and capecitabine monotherapy were independently associated with grade ≥2 HFS. ➡️ Routine diclofenac prophylaxis is therefore 🙅 not supported.
