Creative Shelter
TLDR
Creative Shelter is a Ghent-based financial platform for Belgian freelance creatives, enabling them to invoice clients under the copyright income tax regime and increase their net income by up to 20%.
Overview
Founded around 2013 by Stan De Vocht and headquartered in Ghent at Oktrooiplein 1, Creative Shelter is the only invoicing platform in Belgium built specifically around copyright income management. Freelancers who deliver creative work, including designers, copywriters, developers, and photographers, have a legal right to receive part of their income as copyright compensation, which is taxed at a significantly lower rate than regular professional income.
Creative Shelter handles all the administrative complexity of this copyright regime: invoicing, payment management, follow-up on late payments, and the documentation required for tax compliance. The platform effectively raises the net income of its users without additional work on their part.
The company has grown organically into one of Flanders' fastest-growing companies in its category, recognized among the Middelgrote Gazellen, the Flemish ranking of high-growth companies measured by added value, staff, and cash flow. With around 11 FTEs, Creative Shelter operates lean relative to the size of the freelance market it serves.
