Overview

Fransens completed an engineering degree at KU Leuven (1988-1993) followed by an MSc in Artificial Intelligence (1997-1999) and PhD-level research at the ESAT-PSI group under Luc Van Gool, with publications on optical-flow super-resolution and parametric stereo. He co-founded Apixa (originally Vision++) in 2007 with Geert Caenen and Kurt Cornelis and leads the company as CEO from its Heverlee research-park office in Leuven.

His applied focus spans Computer Vision, AI & Machine Learning, hyperspectral imaging, and 3D scanning across industrial bin-picking, wood-industry scanning, and edge GPU processing.
