Overview

Cornelis studied at KU Leuven from 1994 to 1999 and continued into doctoral research at the Visics-PSI computer-vision group, where he co-authored "Visual Modeling with a Hand-Held Camera" in the International Journal of Computer Vision (2004). He co-founded Apixa in 2007 alongside Geert Caenen and Rik Fransens and served as CTO for around sixteen years before stepping out of the operating role in 2023.

His technical focus is in Computer Vision, Deep Learning, hyperspectral imaging, and 3D vision. He is based in Hasselt.
