Overview
AMOS develops and produces high-precision optical instruments, mechanical and optomechanical systems, and test equipment for astronomy, space, telecommunications, laboratories and industry. The company performs in-house optical manufacturing and mechanical work, taking instruments from concept through qualification, installation, commissioning and final acceptance. AMOS builds high-accuracy telescopes in the 50cm–4m range and subsystems for major telescopes worldwide.

- Hallo Noordwijk 🇳🇱 AMOS is heading to #IndustrySpaceDays2026, ESA's matchmaking event for the European space sector, at European Space Agency - ESA, on September 16–17. Two days where the whole ecosystem sits down together: ESA directorates, primes, SMEs and research centres, all looking for the partners that will turn the next missions into hardware. Exactly the kind of room where our optical and optomechanical systems find their next application. Planning to be there? Etienne Renotte will be on site for the two days. Reach out

Our robotic polishing systems are extremely versatile, allowing us to produce aspherical and freeform lightweight mirrors up to 2.6 meters in diameter for both terrestrial and space applications. They can achieve optical surface figures down to 5 nm RMS and surface roughness below 1 nm Rq, while processing a wide range of
- In case you missed it, our AMOS summer was packed with great news! A few weeks ago, ONERA - The French Aerospace Lab announced its partner for the PROVIDENCE telescope, France's future optical research platform at the Observatoire de Haute-Provence. And that partner is us. On our side of the mirror, that partnership is nothing short of stellar as we have been selected to design, manufacture and deliver the telescope for PROVIDENCE. - 2.5 m aperture with adaptive optics - Fast, precise tracking of LEO objects - Up to 7 instruments
- Earlier this week, the biggest system AMOS has ever built crossed the street, and it took over two full days to do it. #FOCAL7, our 460 m³ Thermal Vacuum Chamber, travelled across LIEGE Science Park to reach its permanent home at the Centre Spatial de Liège. 👀 To picture the scale: that is roughly three average apartments stacked on top of each other, all turned into a single vacuum space capable of recreating the conditions of orbit, so satellites and instruments can be tested here on Earth before they ever leave it. The
- A milestone for space testing in Europe 🇪🇺 The hardest journey #FOCAL7 will ever make is the one it makes next week: from one side of the Liege Science Park to the other. After more than 2 years in our integration hall, the largest vacuum chamber ever built by AMOS for the Centre Spatial de Liège is about to reach its permanent home. • 7 m diameter, nearly 14 m long • Built to reproduce the extreme cold and vacuum of space • Set to become CSL's largest thermal vacuum facility Building a chamber of this scale is one thing. Moving it
- 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐬𝐧'𝐭 𝐚 𝐜𝐥𝐚𝐢𝐦. 𝐈𝐭'𝐬 𝐚 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭. Did you know metrology (from interferometry to profilometry) is at the heart of every optical system we build at AMOS? Before a mirror, payload, or telescope structure leaves our facility, our teams verify every critical parameter to guarantee the durability and reliability that space and astronomy missions demand, from ESO's Very Large Telescope to ESA's Euclid. Because at AMOS, you can't build precision. You can only measure your way to it. #BuiltbyAMOS
- 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐬 𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐛𝐞𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐥𝐚𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐡. Before an optical mirror becomes part of a space mission, it undergoes meticulous quality inspections - even the smallest imperfection can impact performance. Every mirror is checked and validated using complementary techniques, from microscopy to interferometry. Here, UV light reveals contaminants and residues that are completely invisible under normal light, ensuring nothing compromises the mirror once it's in operation. Every detail matters when the destination
- We're proud to announce our partnership with ONERA - The French Aerospace Lab on PROVIDENCE. Selected to design and manufacture a cutting-edge 2.5-meter telescope, AMOS will be delivering a unique space surveillance capability for France and Europe. Operational from early 2029 at the Observatoire de Haute-Provence, PROVIDENCE will achieve 10 cm resolution at 500 km distance. A major step forward for European space sovereignty. #Space #Defence #BuiltbyAMOS
