- When Contactlens Centre came to us, they had a material and no idea what to do with it. We tested it, designed around it and turned it into something concrete and beautiful. 5,825 contact lens blister cases later, they had a limited edition table that told the whole story of where it came from. They're not alone. Over the years we've been challenged to turn: - Soothers into bathroom accessories. - Footballs into wall panels. - Payment cards into record players. - Discarded toys into kids' playrooms. - Fashion store waste into total
- Your company produces waste. Most companies do. The question is what happens to it next. At ecoBirdy, we work with brands and businesses to turn waste streams into valuable, limited-edition products, circular campaigns, interior fixtures, as well as offering consultancy sessions that help companies to know their material better and figure out where to start. - Our Charlie Chair is currently on display at Designing Childhood, a landmark exhibition co-organised by Design Museum Brussels and Centre Pompidou tracing the history of children's design from the 20th century to today. As part of the collaboration, we are invited to curate a personal selection of objects from the exhibition, and guide a tour. - For World Sustainable Gastronomy Day June 18th, we partnered with Harvest, a restaurant in the heart of Antwerp built around the same belief that drives everything we do: that creating things responsibly should never mean making them any less beautiful. Their zero-waste kitchen and seasonal, farm-to-table philosophy met our circular design principle. Especially matching to the Mabo Plate, our first tableware piece, crafted from recycled plastic and designed with both sustainability and inclusivity in mind. Chefs Stephen Akejelu
