Overview
Based in Ghent, Factry builds software that connects to industrial equipment and control systems (PLCs, SCADA, DCS) to collect process data and store it in a time-series database. Its flagship product, Factry Historian, uses InfluxDB as its storage Backbone Agency and provides a purpose-built interface for manufacturers who want to monitor production KPIs, detect anomalies, reduce downtime, and optimize throughput, without the complexity and licensing cost of traditional industrial SCADA historians.
Factry's open-source approach differentiates it from legacy historian vendors like OSIsoft (now AVEVA) and proprietary OEM solutions. The company serves multinational manufacturers including Puratos, which uses Factry to centrally manage process data across 65+ production sites worldwide.
Factry was nominated for Tech ScaleUp Company of the Year at the 2024 Data News Awards in Belgium, reflecting recognition within the Belgian tech community. The company is an InfluxData certified partner, positioning it within the open-source time-series data ecosystem.

- Historian v8.2 is live, and it's built to plug into more of what you already run! Four things worth knowing: 🔌 Ignition users can now historize a tag straight from Designer. Factry picks it up automatically, no separate config, no second mapping to maintain. 📐 The full REST API is rebuilt on an OpenAPI 3.0 contract. Validation is enforced against the spec, and errors return structured status codes and messages, so scripts, the Excel Add-in, and your own tooling get consistent, predictable responses to build against. 🚦

- Data historians can tell you what a sensor read at 3:14pm. Very few can tell you that 3:14pm was the start of a CIP cycle, or the moment a batch actually began, without someone manually tagging it after the fact. Manual tagging means someone has to remember to do it, do it consistently, and do it before the context is lost. In practice, that means most plants have raw trends and very little structure layered on top. Automatic event detection flips that: batch starts, cleaning cycles, quality deviations, tagged as they happen.
