Overview
Founded in 1990 by Wilfried Vancraen and headquartered in Leuven, Materialise is one of the world's oldest and most established 3D printing companies. Long before additive manufacturing became mainstream, Materialise was building the software and service infrastructure that made industrial 3D printing viable.
The company operates across two main segments: software and services. Its Materialise Magics software suite is an industry standard for 3D print preparation. On the services side, Materialise produces printed parts for medical device manufacturers, consumer brands, and industrial clients.
Medical applications are a particular strength. Materialise has developed certified software and printing processes for patient-specific surgical guides, implants, and anatomical models, working with hospitals and medtech companies globally.
With over 2,000 employees and a NASDAQ listing (ticker: MTLS), Materialise is one of Belgium's most internationally visible public technology companies and a founding pillar of the global 3D printing industry.
