Overview
Founded in Ypres in 1989 by Francoise Chombar and Rudi De Winter, Melexis designs and manufactures integrated circuits and sensor ICs used in automotive applications including position sensing, temperature measurement, current sensing, and motor control. Its chips are embedded in vehicles from virtually every major global automaker.
The company is listed on Euronext Brussels, making it one of the few Belgian technology companies to have achieved a public listing on the domestic exchange. With over 2,000 employees across multiple countries, Melexis operates global design centers and maintains production partnerships with semiconductor foundries.
Francoise Chombar served as CEO for many years and became one of the most prominent figures in Belgian tech, particularly in the historically male-dominated semiconductor industry. Melexis is a benchmark company for deep-tech longevity and scale built from Belgium.
