Overview
nxgsat develops satellite modem technology targeting the 5G NTN (non-terrestrial network) standard, which enables smartphones and connected devices to communicate directly with satellites using 5G protocols. This removes the need for specialized satellite handsets and positions satellite connectivity as a seamless extension of terrestrial 5G networks.
The company is backed by imec.istart and PMV (ParticipatieMaatschappij Vlaanderen), reflecting its deep tech hardware profile and Flemish roots. imec.istart's involvement connects nxgsat to imec's semiconductor research ecosystem in Leuven, which has produced multiple SpaceTech and wireless communication spin-offs.
The EUR 1.2M seed provides initial capital for technology development and validation ahead of a larger raise to pursue commercialization.

- Today we signed a contract for IRIS² Low-LEO Pre-operational and De-risking Activities, part of the European Space Agency's (ESA) Programme Related to EU Secure Connectivity, together with EDGX.
