- A warehouse slotting plan should not be optimizing just one thing. It balances walk distance against congestion, stackability and replenishment effort, inside the compliance rules. Focusing too much on walk distance is wrong in peak for some warehouses, because concentrating high-velocity SKUs reduces pick distance but increases congestion.
