Overview
Punch Powertrain develops and produces transmission and propulsion systems for automotive OEMs and mobility providers, covering conventional, hybrid and full electric powertrains. It is headquartered at Ondernemerslaan 5429 in Sint-Truiden, with further sites in Clermont-Ferrand, Nanjing, Subang Jaya and Pune. The company was founded in 1972 as DAF Produktie Sint-Truiden N.V. The Sint-Truiden operation belonged to Volvo from 1975 to 1997 and to ZF Friedrichshafen until 2005, and Punch International acquired it in 2006. The sale of 100 percent of the shares to China's Yinyi Group closed on 31 August 2016, with Gimv, the Gimv-XL fund, LRM, Capricorn and management selling out. Turnover at that point was 326 million EUR and headcount had passed 1,200. Revenue fell from 209 million EUR in 2021 to 183 million EUR in 2022, and Belgian headcount fell from 483 to 156. In May 2024 Stellantis took full control of the e-Transmissions joint ventures after a Belgian court of appeal ruling, moving around 600 Sint-Truiden production workers onto the Stellantis payroll. The company reported 4 million CVTs in operation in August 2025 and inaugurated a plant in Perak, Malaysia with Proton that same month. Wang Lipu became Chief Executive Officer on 8 May 2026, succeeding Sebastien Mazoyer.

- 2024 joint-venture takeover: Stellantis took full control of the e-Transmissions and e-Transmissions Assembly joint ventures in May 2024 following a Belgian court of appeal ruling; Punch Powertrain then carried 494 million EUR of debt and 263 million EUR of cumulative losses
