Overview
Telenet Holding nv was founded on 23 September 1996 to convert the television cable network in Flanders into a telecom infrastructure. Telephony products followed in 1998, alongside internet access under the Pandora brand, and television was added in 2002 after cable network acquisitions. Digital television launched on 3 September 2005 and the company listed on Euronext Brussels in October of that year, entering the BEL20 index in March 2009. In 2014 it started De Grote Netwerf, a EUR 500 million upgrade of the cable network in Flanders. John Porter became CEO in 2013, succeeding Duco Sickinghe, and carries the title CEO Telenet holding. Telenet acquired BASE from KPN for EUR 1.325 billion, gaining its own mobile network, and later bought SFR BeLux, extending its footprint into Wallonia and Brussels. De Vijver Media followed in March 2018 and Eltrona Interdiffusion in Luxembourg in January 2023. The group runs the brands Telenet, Telenet Business, BASE, TADAAM, Blossom, Play Media, Play Sports, Connectify, Wyre and Eltrona. Wyre, formed with Fluvius in 2023, signed fibre cooperation agreements with Proximus and Fiberklaar in 2026. The registered office is at Liersesteenweg 4 in Mechelen, and the company reports more than 3,000 employees.
