Overview
Leuven-based icometrix, a specialist in AI-powered brain MRI analysis software, was acquired by GE HealthCare in September 2025. The acquisition brings icometrix's algorithms for quantifying brain structures and detecting neurological conditions into GE HealthCare's imaging platform, which is used in hospitals and radiology centers worldwide.
icometrix was founded as a spin-off from KU Leuven and imec, and developed software used in clinical trials and routine care to measure brain atrophy and other biomarkers relevant to conditions like multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer's, and stroke.
The acquisition by GE HealthCare provides icometrix with a global distribution channel and deep integration into medical imaging hardware and PACS workflows.
