icometrix was founded as a spin-off from KU Leuven and imec, developing AI software that automatically analyzes brain MRI scans to quantify structures and detect biomarkers relevant to neurological conditions. The platform was used in clinical trials and routine care for diseases including multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer's disease, and stroke.
The company's technology helps radiologists and neurologists extract structured, quantitative data from MRI scans that would otherwise require significant manual effort. Its algorithms were validated in academic and clinical settings and received CE marking and FDA clearance for clinical use.
GE HealthCare acquired icometrix in September 2025, integrating the brain AI analytics software into GE HealthCare's global imaging portfolio. The acquisition provides icometrix with distribution through GE HealthCare's installed base of MRI scanners worldwide.
