Overview

finance&invest.Brussels, formally the Societe Regionale d'Investissement de Bruxelles (SRIB) in French and the Gewestelijke Investeringsmaatschappij voor Brussel (GIMB) in Dutch, was established in 1984 by the Brussels-Capital Region. Its primary shareholder is the Brussels Region (74%), with the remaining 26% held by banks and insurance companies.

The organisation provides a range of financial instruments to Brussels-based businesses: direct loans of up to EUR 5 million for SMEs, equity participations, bank loan guarantees, and hybrid products for cooperatives and social enterprises. Through its subsidiary Brusoc, it extends micro-financing of EUR 5,000 to EUR 150,000 to micro-enterprises, social enterprises, and cooperative structures.

finance&invest.Brussels targets three main audiences: SMEs and scale-ups seeking growth capital, self-employed professionals and merchants, and startups in early-stage development. Portfolio investments are spread across sectors including Fintech, cleantech, and logistics. As of 2025, the organisation plans to deploy an additional EUR 500M over a seven-year horizon following a European Investment Bank partnership agreement for the Brussels-Capital Region.

Beatrice de Mahieu joined as Deputy CEO in 2026. Barbara Roose serves as Chief Investment Officer and Head of Unit.

The portfolio spans companies across Fintech, cleantech, logistics, and cultural industries within the Brussels-Capital Region. The organisation has backed companies including Recovr, Yago, Hooba, and KGS among others tracked publicly.
