Overview
Krols started as a script developer at OSBot, a provider of RuneScape automation software, from January 2014 to June 2016. He then joined BICS, a Proximus subsidiary, as a software engineer from June 2016 to January 2018, where he led the migration of legacy JSF interfaces to a React-based architecture. From February 2018 to June 2019 he worked at The Studio, a Belfius innovation lab, leading a small team that built a group payment and fundraising platform. From August 2019 to March 2023 he was a senior software engineer at Shippr, a logistics marketplace connecting companies and drivers, where he set up the company's e-payment infrastructure from scratch. He then spent March to December 2023 at Lab Box, the D'Ieteren-backed start-up studio for the future of mobility, until the lab and its projects were merged into D'Ieteren. In late 2023 he co-founded Rush Labs, and since February 2025 he has combined that with a senior software engineer role at Skipr.
Bjorn Krols is a Belgian software engineer and one of the three founders of Rush, the Nivelles software studio Rush Labs, alongside Antonio Calapez and Tim Simon. Rush Labs SRL was registered on 10 November 2023, with Krols as permanent representative of one of its directors from the start. The studio builds web, mobile, backend, and AI products for startups, scale-ups, and enterprise innovation teams, with case studies for D'Ieteren, EasyMile, Poppy, and the Brussels shared taxi app Collecto. Within the team Krols focuses on full-stack and AI engineering. Since February 2025 he has also worked as a senior software engineer at Skipr, an all-in-one solution for managing corporate mobility, where he integrated Strong Customer Authentication and built the company's first agentic features. Alongside client work he runs two products of his own. Formspark, started in 2018, is a form backend for developers used by over 20,000 companies including Brave, Cisco, and TED. Botpoison, started in 2021, is an invisible anti-spam alternative to CAPTCHAs that combines a background proof-of-work challenge with IP reputation checks and rate-limiting. Krols is a native speaker of both French and Dutch, and works across TypeScript, Python, Go, and Java, with React, React Native, and Next.js on the frontend.
