It is registered as Belgacom International Carrier Services SA, with its registered office at Boulevard du Roi Albert II 27 in Brussels and company number BE 0866 977 981. Belgacom created its international carrier services business unit in 1997 and moved the activities into a subsidiary in 2005, when Swisscom joined as a joint venture partner. MTN took a stake in 2009. In February 2021 Proximus bought MTN's 20 percent holding and Swisscom's 22.4 percent holding for 569 million euros and became sole shareholder. It acquired TeleSign in October 2017 and MobTexting in December 2021. Since the December 2024 restructuring, BICS operates as a brand within Proximus Global, which also holds Telesign and Route Mobile. Those combined activities represented 1.9 billion euros of revenue in 2023 and more than 2,500 full-time employees in over 100 countries, and were valued at about 3.1 billion euros in equity value, with BICS itself put at around 1.0 billion euros. Seckin Arikan became CEO of Proximus Global on 1 November 2025.
