Overview
Fabrice Pierron is a co-founder of MatchID - Metrology beyond colors, where he has been R&D Director since October 2021, continuing in that role from November 2023. He is based in Belgium. He has also been a guest professor at the University of Ghent since January 2023 and an invited professor at the University of Southampton since November 2023.
Pierron was Professor of Solid Mechanics at the University of Southampton from May 2012 to October 2023. Before that he was a professor at Arts et Métiers ParisTech - École Nationale Supérieure d'Arts et Métiers from September 1999 to April 2012, and an assistant professor at the École des Mines de Saint-Étienne from January 1994 to August 1999.
He completed a PhD in the mechanics of composite materials at the École des Mines de Saint-Étienne between 1990 and 1994, after a master's degree in mechanical engineering at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure d'Electricité et de Mécanique (ENSEM) from 1986 to 1989.
