Overview
Taleman's path to CPQ software started in 2003, when he was studying computer science and built a program that digitized the logic of a door for his father, a door manufacturer's salesman who spent hours on manual price calculations. In 2017 he formalized the concept and founded Hive CPQ, joining the Ghent accelerator The Birdhouse and leaving the program that December with the company's first customers. In 2018 he ran the company with two full-time employees and four offshore workers in Bosnia, serving early clients such as Entrematic Belgium, Idem Poorten and Coverseal, and the company was selected for Scaleup.vlaanderen. He has led Hive CPQ as CEO since, and in July 2025 the company announced a collaboration with Squadron B.V. of Waregem to bring quote automation to manufacturing companies.
Frederik Taleman is the founder and CEO of Hive CPQ, a Ghent company that builds configure price quote software for manufacturers of complex products. The idea dates back to 2003, when Taleman, then a computer science student, wrote a program that digitized the logic of a door to spare his father, a salesman for a door manufacturer, hours of manual price calculations. He turned that concept into a company in 2017. Hive CPQ went through The Birdhouse, the Ghent startup accelerator, and left the program in December 2017 with its first customers. The company was later selected for Scaleup.vlaanderen for guidance in its scale-up phase. Early clients included Entrematic Belgium, Idem Poorten and Coverseal, and in 2018 about 250 distributors worldwide were using the configurator. The platform offers product configuration, 3D visualization, bill of materials generation, pricing engines and document automation for industries such as doors, HVAC and refrigeration, outdoor products, machines and vehicles, and includes a tool called Hive AI for building configurators inside the platform. Customers include Reynaers Aluminium, Joris Ide, De Clerck, Zolare, Nauta and S2. Taleman leads the company from Kleindokkaai in Ghent, with a leadership team that includes chief technology officer Stijn De Mulder.

- Shipping a feature is one thing. Seeing customers actually use it in their daily work is what counts. A few months ago we launched Hive AI with MCP. You connect your AI assistant to Hive and build configurators by describing them, instead of clicking through every screen. The feedback has been strong, and the next step is making sure every team can get real value from it in practice. That’s why we’re launching a new course in the Hive Academy. In three short videos you’ll learn: 🐝 What MCP is and how it connects your AI assistant
- Two screens. Dynamics 365 on the left, a CPQ on the right, and a sales rep copying a quote line by line. I've seen that setup at more manufacturers than I can count. Every time, I think the same thing: that second screen shouldn't be there. So we removed it. Hive CPQ now runs embedded inside Dynamics 365 Business Central, Finance & Supply Chain Management, and Sales. What that means in practice: - Your team configures complex products inside the quote they already have open. - Hive writes the result straight back: the sales
- Moments like this make the work worth it. One of our customers left us a G2 review, and this line stayed with me: "The AI seems to have a perfect grasp of how Hive works." They connect to Hive's MCP and get complex tasks done with simple prompts, without needing anyone to help. Setting up rules and linkages, usually the hardest part of building a configurator, is now much easier for them. What I liked most is that they also called out our hands-on guidance and personal advice. Good AI makes a big difference, and so do the people
- We're changing how the doors and windows industry sells. For years, quoting a window project meant hours of manual work: dimensions, profiles, glazing, hardware, U-values, price lists from every supplier. Complex products, complex calculations. We're now bringing AI into that process. And it changes everything. With Hive CPQ, you can: • Upload a building plan, sketch or window schedule and get a complete configuration and quote back. All you do is review. • Let our Sales Agent read incoming quote requests and prepare the
- Integrated was yesterday. Embedded is now. Most people know Hive CPQ integrates with Microsoft Dynamics 365. Here's what's easy to miss: we've gone a step further. Hive CPQ is now fully embedded inside the Dynamics 365 apps. What that means for your sales team: - Open an opportunity and configure the product in the same window; no switching, no second system. - Pricing stays live while you build, so every quote reflects reality. - Options are validated as you go, catching errors before they reach engineering. - The bill of
- AI built a 'CPQ quote template' all by itself for the first time today. Another major milestone in making CPQ implementations easier!
