Overview
Jan Van den Herrewegen founded Wattloop in January 2025 and serves as its co-founder and chief executive. Since February 2020 he has also worked as an automotive security consultant at Embercrypt BV.
Between November 2020 and July 2021 he was a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Birmingham, where he had completed a PhD in automotive security from November 2016 to February 2021. He earned a Master of Science in cyber security at the same university in 2016, having previously taken a Bachelor of Science in informatics at Ghent University between 2012 and 2015.
His stated areas of expertise are embedded systems, the C and Python programming languages, and diagnostic protocols.
