Overview
Founded in 1817, Ghent University is one of Belgium's largest universities, with over 44,000 students and 15 faculties covering a broad range of disciplines from sciences and engineering to humanities and medicine. It is a significant driver of research output and spin-off company formation in Flanders, with strong ties to imec through joint research groups such as imec-mict-UGent.

- As ECOC 2026 approaches, the European Photonic Integration Forum (EPIF) returns for its 17th edition. Organised by ePIXfab and JePPIX, and supported by PhotonDelta, the new edition focuses on the topic: “From subsidies to venture capital: financing growth in Europe’s integrated photonics landscape” Two keynote speakers: 🔹Ewit Roos, General Partner at PhotonVentures, will give insight into investment strategies in Europe, and how new pathways to venture capital can enable photonic start ups and scale ups in the European ecosystem.
