- I built a dashboard for a production team. A few days later they asked if it could also show when an order is packed. With that, they could follow up on their orders even better. Packing status is in the warehouse management system (WMS), not in Ignition, where the dashboard runs. On a traditional project, you would set up a meeting with the WMS team and ask whether they have an API for it. If they don't, someone has to build one. - Industrial software is struggling to build fast with AI. A lot of our systems, legacy SCADA and MES, were never designed for this pace, and they're falling behind faster than ever. Inductive Automation did a great job with Ignition 8.3 to avoid getting left behind. But even so, letting AI loose in your code base doesn't feel safe.
