Overview
Jasper Van Hoorick is the chief executive officer of BIO INX, a role he has held since April 2022. He is based in Belgium. He joined the company in May 2020 as a project manager, a position he held until taking up the chief executive role.
From January 2020 to April 2022 he was a postdoctoral researcher at Ghent University. Between January 2015 and December 2019 he was a PhD student at Ghent University and at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, working with Polymer Chemistry and Biomaterials at Ghent University and Brussels Photonics at the VUB. That work led to a PhD in chemistry from Ghent University and a PhD in engineering from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, both completed in 2019.
He took a master's degree in chemistry at Ghent University between 2007 and 2014, an executive master class in innovation and entrepreneurship at Vlerick Business School in 2015 and 2016, and the Utrecht Summer School on 3D printing and biofabrication at Utrecht University in 2015. He attended Sint-Jozefscollege Aalst from 2001 to 2007.

- From Light(jes van de Schelde) to Life! 💡🧬 Reflecting on an unforgettable week at the 50th anniversary meeting of the European Society For Biomaterials - ESB in Antwerp! 🇧🇪 This edition felt a little like welcoming the biomaterials community into our home, not only because it took place close to our Ghent headquarters, but also because the conference was chaired by our co-founder and scientific advisor Prof. Sandra. Van Vlierberghe, together with her co-chairs and BIO INX collaborators Prof. Veerle Bloemen and Prof. Liesbet
- Day 3 at European Society For Biomaterials - ESB, ESB 2026 in the beautiful city of Antwerp! 🧬 We are proud to support this special 50th-anniversary edition, chaired by BIO INX co-founder Professor Sandra. Van Vlierberghe. The conference has already brought some exciting highlights: 🔬 Simon Sayer of UpNano GmbH presented the use of HYDROBIO INX to create breast cancer models on chip. 🔬 Yesterday, Aysu Arslan presented her work on composite resins for volumetric bioprinting of osteochondral tissues using the Readily3D
- Next week, BIO INX is playing a home match as we are heading to Antwerp for European Society For Biomaterials - ESB ESB 2026! 🇧🇪 We are proud to support the event as a Silver Sponsor and will be represented by Jasper Van Hoorick, Aysu Arslan and Cameron Milne, together with our scientific advisors Khoon Lim and Sandra. Van Vlierberghe. 📍 Catch Aysu at one of her poster presentations: 🔬 Tuesday | D1 – P119 | Poster 922 “Composite GelMA Bioinks for Volumetric Bone Bioprinting” 🔬 Wednesday | D2 – P124 | Poster 932 “Digital Light
- Congratulations to BIO INX, a spin-off from Vrije Universiteit Brussel and Ghent University: their shape-memory resin, DEGRES INX®, was successfully used to 3D-print 28 nerve repair implants in orbit aboard the International Space Station. 🛰️🌍 During Mission AXLM-3, American firm Auxilium Biotechnologies used BIO INX' resin with its bioprinting platform to manufacture these implants. By leveraging microgravity, this breakthrough paves the way for advanced biomedical manufacturing that could one day shape the future of medicine
