- During SF TECH WEEK by a16z, I attended OpenRouter’s “State of Models”, and it was one of the most interesting sessions of the week! 👉 For those who don’t know it, OpenRouter is the largest AI gateway on the market. It’s a single API that gives access to 500+ models from 80+ providers, and it sends each request to the right model based on price, speed and reliability. Because so much real traffic goes through it, its data is one of the best views of how AI models are actually used, beyond the benchmarks. A few things that stood out:
- For the third day of SF TECH WEEK by a16z, I spent the whole day with Anthropic at the Claude Founder House 🚀 Access was limited and not everyone could get in, so it was a real privilege to hear Anthropic’s teams and partners explain what they build and how they use this technology every day. First up was a very interesting talk on how Retool brought agentic AI into its product, team and processes. Thanks to Allen Kleiner for walking us through what worked, what didn’t, and what finally did. Next was a great session on how
- Day two of SF TECH WEEK by a16z, and we started strong with Mistral, our European champion. I had a great chat with Pavankumar Reddy M, Research Scientist and Multimodal Audio Lead at Mistral AI. We got to ask our questions live about ML4, nicknamed “Le Chonk”, officially released that same morning. On paper it looks impressive. I haven’t tested it yet, and benchmarks can mean everything or nothing, so I’ll wait to see what it does in practice. Either way, I wish them a lot of success. Next stop was Google for Startups.
