- SF Tech Week, Day 3 First, I went to an event on deep tech AI at Stanford. The main message: the hard part is getting the right data to train the models. 👉 Yet another area where the EU makes life hard for European companies. One field that’s quite complicated, and where AI could help a lot, is healthcare. I talked to Ze Yang, a researcher working on AI to find treatments for diseases. The challenge is that data is fragmented and heavily regulated. I hope we find a solution for this soon. Also great to meet: Louis Lu, Kaiser
On a
- SF Tech Week Day 2: Meeting the Giants Last week I went to SF Tech Week. This was day 2. Google The day began with a very interesting talk with Anderson Boyce, who works at Wiz, a company that specializes in cloud infrastructure security. As we have been investing heavily in security over the last two years (since our project for the Parlement de Wallonie, in fact), it was nice to have a chat and see how they could help on our projects. Then Astro Teller explained his view on innovation. EU, we are not ready for this :D He runs X,
- At Deuse, our Team is something that is really important to us. And team we mean the teammembers but also our customers/partners with whom we always aim to form a team. And that’s how we made the trip with Rémi Raimondi from Zeiko to come to SF Tech Week with us. I think none of us lost their time by going there :D He got the attention of the CEO of Docusign there, no less 😎 . If you want to improve your sales and internal documents, check his product out: https://www.zeiko.be/
- SF Tech week - Day 1, evening Last event of my first day, a lot more technical than the first two. And I loved it. After 10 years, my passion is still as strong as on day one 🚀 We talked about how to use agents in/for software. That is something we do quite a lot for our clients, and it’s nice to see we’re following in the footsteps of the best there is. That’s also where I met Rich from Anthropic. Thanks for the chat, Rich, and for sharing how you do things. It’s nice to see what improvements we can make. Fun fact: I came
- In the coming weeks, I’ll share some of my observations from Tech Week. Feel free to share your thoughts on them. Day 1 - Afternoon In the afternoon of the first day, in the queue of a well-organised meeting “hum hum”, I met Dr. Josh Elmore, an organization scientist for bigger enterprises. Since all companies will go through an AI shift, I am sure he’ll have a lot of work in the coming years. He had a knack for making hard things simple. And that is something we love to do at Deuse. Some interesting things we talked about: - The
- Day 1 in SF European regulations hurt us a loooot First trip in an autonomous car (40 min drive): check (Waymo) Second trip in a self-driving Tesla Model 3 (20 min): check Frankly, it works so, so well First event, @Tesla, and I already learned a lot. One thing for sure: SF and the rest of the world do not live in the same world. Met a biotech VC in brain chips from Shanghai. China does very well in AI, a bit behind SF but not by much. Also talked with Daniel Yin builds an autonomous kitchen at Tepan. I wish I had one at
