Overview
Nathan Bijnens is CEO and co-founder of Scrydon, where he sets product vision and go-to-market strategy. The company builds the Cognitive Enterprise, a sovereign AI operating system and decision intelligence platform designed to keep AI systems within an organization's own perimeter. Its platform combines an agentic AI OS, self-service analytics anchored to organizational ontologies, a natural language interface called Cortex, a semantic enterprise layer, and zero-trust infrastructure that supports deployments from air-gapped environments to the cloud. Scrydon targets defence and NATO organizations, government institutions, critical infrastructure operators, financial services, and healthcare, and was founded by former Microsoft engineers, solution architects, and regulatory experts. He was most recently Sr. CSA Manager for Data & AI, leading the Data & AI team for strategic, commercial, and public sector clients including EU institutions and NATO, and held an ad-interim solution sales role for Data & AI covering NATO. He is based in Ghent and speaks and writes on AI, agentic AI, and big data.
From September 2010 to February 2011 he was a big data engineer at Netlog, where he set up Hadoop infrastructure for a social network with over 70 million members. He then consulted on Hadoop and big data at DataCrunchers from 2012 to 2014, including an engagement at Technicolor, and worked at Virdata from October 2013 to January 2016 as a senior big data and IoT engineer building IoT cloud platform infrastructure with Apache Spark, Storm, Cassandra, and Kafka. On the side he ran Servs BVBA, a part-time IT consulting business, from 2007 to 2014. He joined Microsoft in February 2016 as a Cloud Solution Architect for Advanced Analytics and AI, moved up to Sr. Cloud Solution Architect for Data & AI in 2019, and became Sr. CSA Manager for Data & AI in June 2021, a role he held until February 2026. From July 2023 he also carried an ad-interim solution sales role for Data & AI for NATO. He studied social-economic sciences at the University of Antwerp from 2005 to 2007 without completing the program, and holds the Databricks Certified Data Engineer Professional certification.
As CEO of Scrydon, Bijnens runs strategy and growth across the company's agentic AI, analytics, and data spaces products, with a focus on regulated and public-sector customers in Europe.
