Overview
Saurabh Soni is Chief Technology Officer at IMChip, a role he took up in November 2024. He is based in Groningen.
Before joining IMChip, he was a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Twente from October 2021 to April 2024. He completed his Ph.D. at the University of Groningen between September 2017 and August 2021, and during that period, from September 2018 to June 2020, served on the board of the PhD Council of the Graduate School of Science & Engineering. He also holds a Master of Science from the University of Groningen, taken in its Top Masters Program between 2015 and 2017, and a Bachelor of Technology in Chemical Science and Technology from the Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati, studied between 2011 and 2015.
While at IIT Guwahati he was secretary of the Photography Club and, earlier, maintenance secretary of Kapili Hostel, and he was photography head and marketing executive at Alcheringa. In 2013 he worked as a management trainee at MebelKart Technologies Pvt. Ltd and as a design intern at netapedia. In 2014 he took part in the Hangrr Business, Leadership and Marketing Program and travelled to Japan as an Indian delegate to JENESYS 2.0 with the Japan International Cooperation Center.

- In the past six months at IMChip, we built over a dozen partnerships and planned cross-border spillovers across ~15 EU countries. AMICA, if granted, will serve as an accelerated industrial development of these breakthrough neuromorphic chips for AI that IMChip is bringing to market. Working on the #IPCEI AST proposal was a major learning experience for us. We learnt extensively about the semiconductor industry's value chain and the crucial role each layer plays in bringing a new technology to market. The IPCEI project also highlights
- Happy to share that I finished my Project Management Professional (PMP) certification. Building deep tech at a startup taught me that great science requires structured delivery. The PMP helps me think on how to align teams, manage uncertainty, and develop roadmaps. I look forward to bringing this into my next challenge at IMChip.
