Wendy Ossieur is CEO of I Challenge, a Ghent-based Belgian startup specializing in microbial shelf-life determination for foods, supporting sustainable packaging and spoilage reduction.
Wendy Ossieur is the CEO of i-challenge and is based in Ghent. Since November 2023 she has also been CEO and cofounder of Shelfion, and since February 2023 the owner of Power of Microbes. She states expertise in business strategy, management and entrepreneurship.
From May 2022 to February 2023 she headed the biology group for human milk oligosaccharides at DSM, having previously led development at Bacthera between September 2019 and May 2022. She joined Chr. Hansen Holding A/S in December 2015, working as a research scientist and then senior research scientist, and from January 2018 as team manager for human health and microbiome process, until September 2019. Before that she was a research scientist at ProDigest from 2011 to 2015.
She began her career as a project engineer in research and development at Avecom and PION from 2004 to 2006, then spent five years at BNP Paribas Fortis as a commercial advisor, trainee and bank director. She studied bio-engineering with environmental studies at Ghent University from 1999 to 2004, and in 2016 completed courses in occupational health and safety at Dansk Arbejdsgiverforening and in GMP at the European Compliance Academy.
