Overview
Kannika started inside Cymo as a project supporting mateco, a global aerial work platform rental company that was rolling out an event streaming platform called Q.one. Didier Dhaenens, CIO at mateco, pushed for a proper backup capability once no existing tool could reliably back up and restore event-driven data, so the Cymo team built one. That solution became Kannika Armory, and in 2023 Kannika was spun off from Cymo as an independent software company. Armory now protects event streams for organisations including Engie, mateco and KOR Financial.
Wout Florin is one of three co-founders of Kannika, alongside Kris Van Vlaenderen and Bryan De Smaele. As COO he drives the company's strategy and growth, while Van Vlaenderen serves as CPO and De Smaele as CTO. Kannika sells Kannika Armory, a platform that backs up, restores, migrates and clones Apache Kafka event streams, and lists its office at Bellevue 1/101 in Gent. Florin is also listed on the Cymo team as co-founder with responsibility for sales operations, and Cymo works from the same address in Ghent.
