Overview
Wouter Van Putte is the founder and CEO of PUXANO, a company he founded in May 2021. He is based in Diksmuide.
Before that he held a postdoctoral research position at Universiteit Gent from November 2019 to September 2021, overlapping with the first months of PUXANO. Earlier he was research and innovation manager at Universiteit Antwerpen from January 2018 to October 2019, and a postdoctoral researcher at VIB from November 2017 to January 2018. He began his recorded career as a consultant at Hict from February 2017 to November 2017.
Van Putte studied at Ghent University, where he took a licentiate in philosophy between 2001 and 2005, a master's in biochemistry and biotechnology between 2005 and 2010, and a PhD in the same field, completed in 2016. He followed a postgraduate programme in financial management at VIVES Continue Business from 2016 to 2017.

- The afternoon parallel sessions at the Nordic AI Factory Summit looked both ahead and at results already in hand. The panel "Emerging Technologies: What’s Coming Next" explored the next steps beyond today’s large-scale AI, from quantum-accelerated HPC to accountable, knowledge-driven AI. Speakers were Mikael Johansson (CSC - IT Center for Science), Kerstin Bach (Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), Lars Hard (Oxide AI) and Cathal J. Mahon (QuNorth), with Kjartan Thor Wikfeldt , Deputy Director of Sweden AI
- Wouter Van Putte has just returned from Japan after a great experience at BioJapan and pitching at #TechBIZKON. During the events, Wouter had the opportunity to connect with fellow Flemish companies, Japanese partners and potential customers, and present PUXANO’s work in structural biology. He also pitched our patient-specific structure-based drug design (SBDD) platform for the first time. It was again a great experience thanks to #FIT (@MidoriSato, Asami Torimitsu, Els Verhulst), my fellow colleagues from #SwiftPharma (@VincentJaenen), #RodeKruis (@PietJamaels), other flemish companies, @TaishiKusumoto, and our Japanese friends/customers. I also had to pitch for the first time our patient-specific SBDD platform, where instead of recombinant proteins, we are targeting proteins isolated from primary cells to get closer to the true native state (disease specific ptms, proteolysis, aggregation).
