Earlier this week I read a very nice blog ( Blog: https://lnkd.in/dekkyvCE ) by Matt Yanchyshyn (VP AWS Marketplace & Partner Services) on #Agentic #SaaS, and it stuck with me. AI agents are becoming a real buying and consumption channel for software: the AI agents & tools category in Amazon Web Services (AWS) Marketplace grew from 900 to 3,300+ solutions in less than a year!!!
The blog lands on three conclusions I fully agree with:
1. Build for agentic systems. Make your existing SaaS capabilities consumable by autonomous agents.
2. Design for agent discoverability. Agents don't browse your website. Your architecture, metadata and descriptions become your competitive advantage.
3. Align pricing to value. Combine predictable base revenue with consumption-based pricing for agent-driven outcomes.
At the same time, my honest observation: in the Benelux we are a bit behind this trend. Adding AI in your platform is not enough, design for agentic systems outside your platform. That's the bigger shift, and most SaaS builders I speak with are aware however aren't there yet.
The good news? #MCP (Model Context Protocol) is doing for agentic capabilities what REST APIs did for web applications. And AWS offers tooling and partner funding programs to build efficiently MCPs from your APIs.
