Energy managers and CFOs across our markets track electricity prices in a dozen different ways. Spreadsheets, supplier portals, broker updates.
We put it all in one place instead.
Our Energy Market Monitor brings day-ahead prices, imbalance data and negative-price hours for Belgium, the Netherlands, France and Germany onto a single page. Four languages, quarter-hour resolution, refreshed daily.
Below those sit the two views we look at most ourselves.
The PV capture price: what your solar actually earns on the day-ahead market. In Belgium, year to date, the day-ahead average is EUR 98,10/MWh. Solar's capture price is EUR 51,60/MWh. Roughly half, because the sun pushes everyone's production into the same low-price window.
And the price spread: the gap between the cheapest and most expensive hour of a day. So far this year in Belgium that daily spread averages EUR 160,70/MWh. It is the first number we would point a CFO to, because that band is the room a battery or a shiftable process has to work with.
These graphs are the basis of our own long-term energy-steering strategy. The same signals feed our energy management system, which reads the market per quarter-hour and decides when a site charges, when it releases, and when it simply lets an expensive hour pass. Even curtailing solar during negative-price hours already lifts that capture price. Steering the whole site takes it further: battery, flexible load, power-to-heat. The monitor shows you the market. The steering is what turns it into money.
Everything live is open to everyone. The full series back to 2021, and the analyses behind these curves, are there to discover too. And that is where they get interesting, once you put your own consumption profile next to them. A conversation we like having.
If there is a chart you would want on there, or a market we do not cover yet, tell us. We built this from the questions our clients ask most.
