Most energy projects end. That is precisely the problem.
The classic sequence: an audit is commissioned, a report is delivered, some measures are implemented, everyone moves on. Some time later, consumption has crept back — because use, weather and equipment kept changing after the project stopped.
Energy performance in an operational building isn't a project deliverable. It is a state that has to be maintained. That is why we structure the work as a continuous loop with four movements.
Map: connect to the systems already in place, unify energy, carbon and comfort data, analyse how the HVAC actually behaves — and reveal the anomalies.
Plan: turn findings into an Action Plan — prioritised, costed, decision-ready — agreed with all stakeholders, from facility teams to owners.
Act: stabilise first (fix control issues, schedules, setpoints), then optimise.
Measure: verify results continuously against a measured baseline, following IPMVP, so savings are demonstrated rather than assumed — and feed the next cycle.
Then the loop turns again: what Measure reveals feeds the next Map, and the anomalies it surfaces shape the next Action Plan.
A loop has one more advantage over a project. It keeps working through the weeks when nobody is watching — and we are in the quietest weeks of the year right now.
Which of the four stages does your organisation invest in least: mapping, planning, acting, or measuring?
