Over the past years, EDDIE has grown into an extensive open-source toolset with a powerful and increasingly sophisticated set of features.
Many of these capabilities were shaped by needs discovered in practice: while building real applications, working with developers at hackathons, testing integrations and learning where teams need clearer guidance.
That breadth is valuable. But it also means that onboarding new developers into the EDDIE ecosystem can be challenging.
That is why we designed the EDDIE Tutorial: a practical learning roadmap currently published through Day 15, introducing the framework one working checkpoint at a time.
Day 1 already closes the first data loop:
→ Run EDDIE locally
→ Define a Data Need
→ Complete a simulated consent flow through Connect with EDDIE
→ Generate test readings
→ Read the result through REST
From there, the published chapters grow one coherent reference application with Spring Boot, Angular, Keycloak and PostgreSQL. They cover real region connectors, REST/Kafka/AMQP strategies, the permission lifecycle, user-bound connections, persistence, OpenTelemetry, IEC CIM, time-series visualisation, AIIDA and near real-time consumption.
The goal is simple: help developers move from their first local setup to building useful applications with EDDIE.
EDDIE is an open-source project licensed under Apache License 2.0. We encourage developers, energy-service providers and researchers to try it, build with it and contribute code, documentation, connectors, ideas and feedback.

In the coming weeks, we will select successful EDDIE application architectures and showcase them here - demonstrating the transformation potential of the European Distributed Data Infrastructure for Energy.
