Overview
Kasper De Smaele is a co-founder of Kasqade, where he has served as chief executive since December 2025. He is based in Gent.
Before that he was an AI presales engineer at Robovision from July 2023 to September 2025. Earlier roles include a satellite systems engineering internship at QinetiQ Space in 2022, a position as assistant strategic projects at Modis between October 2019 and June 2021, and a spell as CEO for One Month at Adecco in 2019. He worked as a propulsion test engineer at Airbus from August 2018 to May 2019, and briefly as a sales consultant at Opel in January 2018.
De Smaele studied aerospace engineering at Delft University of Technology, completing a bachelor's degree in 2018 and a Master of Science in 2023. He spent an exchange semester at the University of British Columbia studying engineering economics and principles of software construction, and followed the MBA Essentials programme at The London School of Economics and Political Science in 2019. He attended Sint-Gertrudiscollege Wetteren. His stated areas of expertise include artificial intelligence, aerospace engineering, go-to-market strategy and global cross-functional team leadership.

While I was raising Kasqade's preseed round I traced commonly quoted downtime and waste numbers back to their sources. The trail often ends at a vendor blog citing another vendor blog citing the first one. One of the few real datasets I found: ABB and Sapio Research asked 3,600 industrial decision makers. The results: - 44% have unplanned stoppages at least monthly - 14% weekly And that's a survey of big companies, the local manufacturing shops
