- 3 things that surprised me when I moved into central procurement. Maybe I was naive.. 1. Savings benchmarks can be very misleading. The biggest predictor of savings opportunity I’ve seen isn’t in the surface-level data. It’s how mature procurement has been in that location/category. A team can have done an excellent job for years, but those successes are quickly forgotten. New leadership comes in, expectations reset, and suddenly the same benchmark is applied again. Sometimes there genuinely just isn’t another 3-5% sitting there.
- I’m excited to share that I'll be speaking at ProcureCon Europe 2026 in Cologne! Looking forward to being part of Europe’s premier gathering for senior procurement leaders, bringing together 650+ decision-makers focused on driving real business value. Over three days, the agenda is filled with practical insights on AI, digital transformation, supplier collaboration, and building resilience in a complex global landscape. With highly interactive sessions, it’s a unique opportunity for open discussions and meaningful peer
- When a supplier fails badly, at least the cost is visible. A line stop. A recall. An escalation. Someone owns it. What gets missed is everything that happens before it reaches that point. The lead time quietly extended in the planning system so the delays stop causing problems. The extra incoming inspection that started years ago and never stopped. The storage space kept aside for their stock. The manual ordering process that only exists because the normal one cannot be trusted. The person who spends part of every week chasing
- A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to speak about FlockScore at the imec.istart investor day and I started with one of my favourite slides. It maps out the supplier intelligence most procurement teams can buy today. Financial health, geopolitical exposure, cyber. Well covered. Emissions, social compliance, traceability. Also well covered, and getting better every year. Then a column with a question mark over it. How does the supplier actually perform once you are working with them. Quality. Delivery. Whether they pick up the
- A very nice way to end Procurement Summit: today FlockScore won 1st place in the Startup Innovation Awards! Thank you to everyone who voted and took the time to speak with us over the last two days. A proud moment for Thomas and I, and another confirmation that what we are building is important for the future of procurement.
- At Procurement Summit in Hamburg today and tomorrow. You'll find us at booth T20 in the procurement startups area. Come and say hello. Tomorrow at 11:15 I'm pitching FlockScore on the Procurement Main Stage and I would appreciate the support if you're around. The short version of why it matters: real supplier performance is still mostly known too late. After the decision, after onboarding, after something has already gone wrong. And it's not only about reducing risk. It's about finding the best fit, sourcing better, and being
- Two valuable days at the Supply Chain Risk and Resilience Forum in Amsterdam last week. The room held varied views on how to design a supply network right now, grounded in very different lived experience. "It depends" came back a lot... on the industry, the category, the market conditions you are actually operating in. What held underneath all of it was simpler. Whatever the design, we have to use the full toolbox to make our supply chains more adaptable. The next disruption could come from anywhere, and the job is to see it
