Overview
Ronald Dehuysser is the founder and developer of JobRunr, based in Leuven. He created JobRunr in March 2020 and has led it since. He has also owned Rosoco since January 2009.
Between October 2021 and November 2022 he was head of engineering at Ventory, and before that an application developer at Bringme from October 2020 to October 2021. He was a senior developer at Codabox from September 2019 to March 2020.
Dehuysser worked at Cegeka across several periods from February 2011, as an agile software developer, then as agile coach, as coach and architect for Constructiv, and as a digital and analog all-rounder until March 2019. From March 2012 to May 2013 he was an agile software developer and TDD coach at Proximus. He began as an apprentice developer at FKS in 2003, spent 2004 as a job student at ICOS Vision Systems, and was a consultant at Amplexor from October 2004 to February 2011.
He studied ICT as an industrial engineer at Katholieke Hogeschool Limburg from 2000 to 2004, after secondary school at the Ursula-Instituut.

- Last week I watched a JobRunr tutorial in a language I do not speak. Someone I have never met explained my own library to an audience I could never reach. So we went looking. There are a lot more of them. Blog posts, conference talks, videos, Stack Overflow answers, in languages I cannot even read. Nobody asked them. They found the thing useful and told other people about it. That is the part of open source that still makes me smile. You write code alone in a room during a scary year, not knowing if any of it will matter, and
- 2.5 hours of job backlog. Gone in 8 minutes. Total cost: $0.002. Two tenths of a cent. I checked it three times because I did not believe the number. What happened: we dumped 150 jobs of one minute each onto a cluster with a single worker. A MacBook Pro M4 was technically the production cluster that day 😅 Then JobRunr looked at the queue, decided it needed help, and rented a spot instance in our own AWS account. 6 seconds to decide. 75 seconds until the first spot node was processing jobs. Under 8 minutes for the whole backlog. 14

- JobRunr 8.7.0 is out, and the theme this time is "get out of your way." For years we shipped starters for Spring, Quarkus, and Micronaut. But every now and then someone runs JobRunr on something else, and the Fluent API made that harder than it should have been: it started the servers the moment you configured them, before your container was ready, and never handed you the objects back.
