Overview
Ronald Dehuysser is the founder and developer of JobRunr, based in Leuven. He created JobRunr in March 2020 and has led it since. He has also owned Rosoco since January 2009.
Between October 2021 and November 2022 he was head of engineering at Ventory, and before that an application developer at Bringme from October 2020 to October 2021. He was a senior developer at Codabox from September 2019 to March 2020.
Dehuysser worked at Cegeka across several periods from February 2011, as an agile software developer, then as agile coach, as coach and architect for Constructiv, and as a digital and analog all-rounder until March 2019. From March 2012 to May 2013 he was an agile software developer and TDD coach at Proximus. He began as an apprentice developer at FKS in 2003, spent 2004 as a job student at ICOS Vision Systems, and was a consultant at Amplexor from October 2004 to February 2011.
He studied ICT as an industrial engineer at Katholieke Hogeschool Limburg from 2000 to 2004, after secondary school at the Ursula-Instituut.

- JobRunr exists because my wife let me build it. Right before COVID I was freelancing on a distributed Java project. Messages just got lost because they ended up on a dead letter queue, and nobody could see it happen. So I thought: why not try to fix this? I worked on it for 8 months, from January until September. And because she was that patient with me, I also built a Pro version. - We just released JobRunr 9. 🥳 The feature I am happiest about is one you will never see. Some Pro customers told us some version of "instant job pickup does not work on our network". The cause was always the same. We used UDP multicast to tell the other servers a new job was waiting, and plenty of cloud networks and Kubernetes clusters block multicast, so the servers silently fell back to polling and a job could sit there for up to 15 seconds. - We have 2 super cool things to celebrate this week. 🥳 The first thing: JobRunr OSS passed 10 million downloads this year. This year alone, and it is not even October yet. Thank you so much to every developer who added JobRunr to their pom.xml, every team that opened an issue with a reproducer, every contributor who sent a PR and every JUG that let us come and talk about it. - In July we promised pizza to Java User Groups. Here is a short update on how it’s going: The first evenings happened: EuregJUG, and Jozi JUG - Johannesburg Jozi JVM User Group. And many more are booked, from Grenoble and London to Istanbul and Gujarat. 🍕 I honestly expected maybe five replies... We got a lot more.
