Quantum’s biggest headlines are often technical breakthroughs. This month, however, IBM’s acquisition of HRL Laboratories, LLC was a notable strategic announcement.
IBM’s acquisition of HRL Laboratories is another indication that silicon spin qubits are moving from promising research to strategic technology. The Quantonation team backed this modality at an early stage through investments in Quobly and Diraq because we believe semiconductor-compatible approaches have the potential to play an important role in scaling quantum computing.
