Nature just covered something we’re pretty proud of.
What can you build with a quantum computer from a couch? For Quantonation Managing Partner Christophe Jurczak, the answer was: an AI agent, a research paper, and a new way of thinking about who gets to do #QuantumComputing.
Working remotely from Dallas, Christophe plugged Claude into two of Pasqal’s quantum computers, in Sherbrooke and Saudi Arabia, and, together with the Pasqal team, built a tool that turns a plain-English question into working #quantum code and runs it on real hardware. No specialist team required.
Christophe and Pasqal’s Loïc Henriet spoke with Davide Castelvecchi at Nature Portfolio about how their agent was put through three real physics test cases, like translating published research into quantum simulations, a step that normally demands a team with deep expertise in both the underlying physics and quantum hardware.
Constantin Dalyac and Alexandre Dauphin were also central to the work, helping turn the original idea into theresearch published today.
While it’s not a fully autonomous scientist yet, it still leans on expert feedback to get the physics exactly right. It’s a striking preview of how fast that gap is closing.
The result is now published research, and a real signal that the barrier to quantum computing is dropping faster than most people realize.
The approach desmontrated here applies to all platforms, from superconductors to ions, silicon spins and photonics, in digital and analog mode.
