We get it, QA has to be the one that says no sometimes. If we didn’t we wouldn’t be doing our job. Because of that QA has earned an unfair (in our opinion) reputation of being serious 24/7. It’s true, working in QA within a regulated industry is serious stuff. There’s a lot to keep on top of, and in life sciences, there is a lot on the line if things go wrong. That being said… we’re all just human beings at the end of the day. One of our team went to an industry conference for the first time not so long ago. If you were to believe the stereotype, you’d be expecting a very solemn, very business only experience. What they actually reported back was the complete opposite. The post-conference drinks turned into post-conference dancing, interesting conversations (both quality and non-quality related) and new contacts. In other words, the exact same as everyone else. So remember, we’re all just people doing our best out here. It just happens that the QA role requires the occasional hard conversation and an eagle eye. What assumptions have you heard about people that work in QA?
