FCC proposes ending anonymous phones The end of the anonymous phone? A proposed FCC rule would require US telecoms to collect a government-issued ID and physical address from every phone customer, effectively ending burner phones. Anonymity has legitimate uses: journalists protecting sources, domestic-abuse survivors, activists, and anyone who simply doesn't want a number tied to their identity. A blanket ID requirement takes that option away from everyone to catch a few. Public comment periods are where rules like this get shaped. 📬 Sub to never miss a story: https://lnkd.in/e5TzW_dd #Privacy #FCCrule #Anonymity #Mailfence
